Workaholics are almost always inspired in life. They are driven by the need for results and to achieve what’s on their mind.  But, when they hail from the creative arts, how would they deal with the quest for immediate or instant inspiration?

An irony of sorts, the compulsive urge to keep oneself busy at work is what keeps any workaholic at ease.  Ideating, creating, strategising, implementing and so on…  But what happens when, you are stuck in a moment and can’t get back into the groove?

Could be an irritable boyfriend or a girlfriend nagging forever, about the trivial stuff that’s derailed your pace.  Nevertheless, here are a few tricks that will help you zone into work again.

Start an organisational task:

This little trick almost always gives you the breather you need, accompanied by the idea of being productive.  Redo your wardrobe in parts, or maybe a file cabinet.  During the task make a note of the little sparks that pop in your head! That will get you going once this is done!

Take a break and pursue a creative hobby:

Photography or reading is one way to get refreshed. It helps you relax and punches out any blocks hindering your thought process.

Step up and Workout:

I’ve been skeptical of this technique for far too long, but, off late I’ve realized the rush that this process provides.   Nothing like a 5 mile jog to get the creative juices flowing.

Catch up with friends:

Sometimes the only way to get back into the groove is by stepping as far away from it as possible!   Hang out with your friends and let go.  A fun time with your dependable chums will only refresh you even if it’s just catching up with some exciting TV shows or reruns.

Step on the Accelerator and go for a Long Drive:

A long drive away from the hustle and bustle will rejuvenate your senses!  However, this works only if you manage to steer of traffic, or else you will be stuck not just at work, but out there too!

Cook your worries away:

Get innovative in the kitchen.  No matter what you whip up and how it tastes, you’ve given yourself a treat nevertheless.  Carry this creative fervor back into your workplace and tackle the project with the same passion!

Get Gaming:

Give in to an adrenaline packed game on your x-box or just get gaming on your handset with angry birds and elevate.  Watch yourself get catapulted from the land of the uninspired within moments!

If all fails, call your mentor and ask for help!  They’ve had off days too and will be glad to assist you!   However, if your roadblock is a digital dilemma, don’t think twice, just drop us a line at askus@codelattice.com and we will be glad to assist you.
